In 1878, Emanuele Alberto, Count of Mirafiore, founded his own winery. Here, our philosophy is not merely about preserving the past; it is about the courage to unconditionally revive traditions. It is a tribute to the land and to humanity’s ability to preserve its purest beauty.
We believe that a great wine is born from listening to the soil. We work exclusively with grapes from our own vineyards, where we practise organic farming, so that our wines reflect the essence of the terroir.
We cultivate a relationship based on trust, collaboration and mutual growth with our suppliers, with the aim of building solid and lasting bonds, focused on continuous improvement and responsible innovation.
The raw materials and supplies used at every stage of the production process, from vineyard management to cellar work, right through to the bottling of the wine, are selected with the utmost care and in line with our values. We favour local suppliers, because we believe in the value of a short supply chain.
We have developed a low-impact cultivation programme through careful monitoring of the use of fertilisers and plant protection products. This approach is made possible by our experience and the use of a network of weather stations located across our estate.
89.8% of the glass in our bottles comes from recycled material (Mixed Colour Cullet), and the labels reflect this commitment: 90% of them are FSC-certified, guaranteeing a paper supply chain that protects forests and the people who live there. Small details that, together, form a conscious choice. Most of our wines are sealed with the SÜBR stopper, a new generation of micro-natural closures designed by Vinventions, made from cork granules and plant-based, biodegradable materials. Finally, the cartons that house our bottles are also FSC-certified, completing a journey that, from the vineyard to the winery and right through to packaging, embodies a single vision: that of a wine that respects the nature from which it is born.
Measuring our water footprint is not merely a technical exercise: it is a concrete commitment to safeguarding the region’s resources. Every drop of water we use is employed with care; every decision is guided by the balance between producing excellence and protecting the environment.
By measuring our carbon footprint, we aim to make every decision more informed, every process more efficient and every project more equitable. At a time when the climate is calling us to action, data becomes a voice, measurement becomes awareness, and sustainability a concrete choice.
We have launched “Bosco Vigna”, a new initiative for integrated reforestation within the vineyard, involving the planting of over 350 forest and fruit trees amongst our rows to promote biodiversity in our hills. An ancient tradition of our countryside which, over the years, was sacrificed for intensive monoculture, has now been revived in Serralunga d’Alba. Our agronomists have carefully selected native species and introduced varieties suited to our hilly ecosystem: their role is to enrich the soil with diverse nutrients, regenerate flora and fauna, helping to create a more balanced microclimate for the vines, promote soil fertility and combat certain diseases.
Our collaboration with the Accademia della Vigna – the first social impact academy in viticulture, which innovatively integrates training, ethical working practices, inclusion and social responsibility – began in 2022 and, year on year, is being strengthened through the direct recruitment and training of new staff, as well as by making available certain sections of the vineyard and the expertise of the agronomic director. On a social level, we have also increased the hours dedicated to training our team, to ensure that skills grow alongside our vision.
Some figures to better understand the project (from 2022 to 2024):
Thanks to advances in modern viticulture, we are able to cultivate our vineyards without the use of synthetic products, ensuring maximum sustainability, respect for the environment and the quality of the finished product.
In 2018, we achieved organic certification.
Our wines are 100% vegan, as they are produced without any ingredients of animal origin.
In 2021, we obtained ‘Vegan Product’ certification.
For us, sustainability does not stop at environmental commitment, but extends to two further pillars: social and economic sustainability. We therefore decided to embark on a journey that led us, in 2020, to produce our first Sustainability Report, enabling us to clearly and transparently outline our commitment and set new objectives that can be integrated year on year. This has led us to obtain the Equalitas ‘Sustainable Organisation’ certification, which guarantees good agricultural, winemaking, economic, socio-economic and communication practices, through verifiable and measurable indicators.
The “Historic Brand” is a designation awarded to us by the Italian Government’s Ministry of Economic Development, which recognises Italian brands of excellence with a long-standing connection to the country.
A document that outlines our commitment from an environmental, ethical and social perspective, aligned with Equalitas standards, the Global Reporting (GRI) and the Sustainable Development Goals of the ONU 2030 Agenda (SDGs).
